Es uno de los lugares más mágicos que tiene Ecuador, ofreciéndonos vistas y una experiencia de otro
mundo. Este volcán es principalmente visitado por sus numerosas lagunas y la belleza de sus páramos La Laguna Amarilla está ubicada en el Parque Nacional Sangay, siendo así, uno de los atractivos más destacados en el volcán Altar gracias a que está rodeada del cráter del volcán junto a picos de nieve junto a su laguna de manera centrada, dando como resultado una vista espectacular del lugar. La Laguna Amarilla es especial en todo sentido, ya que algunas personas se han sentido conectadas directamente con este paisaje sin igual, y otras disfrutan de esta gran joya que nos ofrece el Ecuador, teniendo experiencias únicas e inigualables. Además, podrás contar, entre sus atractivos, con diferentes especies animales como: el Puma concolor,, Venado de cola Blanca, Chucuri, Lobo de páramos; o diferentes tipos de aves, entre ellas el cóndor, Picoespina Arcoiris, Curiquingues, etc; junto a una gran variedad de vegetación liderada por musgos, líquenes y plantas nativas del lugar.
DÍA 1 y 2: Trek al Altar – Laguna Amarilla

DÍA 1
Les recogeremos desde su hotel o lugar de estadía a las 5:00am en la que tendremos un viaje aproximado de 4H30 hasta llegar a la Hacienda Releche en la cual nuestro desayuno nos estará esperando. Una vez que desayunemos aquí daremos unas breves instrucciones e iniciaremos el primer tramo de caminata que estima 6H00 de caminata, en la pampita de esta caminata vamos a tener un espacio de descanso para comer. Seguidamente, continuaremos nuestra caminata hasta llegar al refugio. Una vez en el refugio, vamos a tener tiempo para relajarnos y cena. En el refugio dormiremos en nuestras literas y nos alistaremos para el día siguiente.
DÍA 2
A las 5:30am vamos a despertarnos y alistarnos para salir a la caminata hacia la Laguna Amarilla que dura aproximadamente 2h00. Una vez que estemos en la Laguna Amarilla, vamos a tener tiempo suficiente de descanso, comida y por supuesto las fotos en la laguna; como una opción para los valientes, es que pueden ingresar en la laguna a darse un chapuzón. El agua es extremadamente fría pero no contiene azufre ni otras sustancias que sean perjudiciales para la salud. Una vez aquí procederemos al descenso hacia el refugio, aquí vamos a desayunar y alistar todo para descender nuevamente en nuestro tramo final hacia la hacienda Releche Retorno, y seguidamente a sus lugares de estadía.

VESTIMENTA PERSONAL (NO INCLUIDO):
Tres capas de vestimenta para las piernas y el torso:
• Primera capa: Buzo y pantalón dryfit (tipo licra, secado rápido).
• Segunda capa: Chaqueta y pantalón abrigado preferiblemente repelente al agua (Tipo fleece o polar).
• Tercera capa: Chaqueta y pantalón impermeable.
• Un buzo o chompa extra (en caso de extremo frio).
• Mochila entre 25L y 35L.
• Guantes preferiblemente gruesos.
• Gafas factor 4 (con protección UV).
• Buff o gorro térmico.
• Medias gruesas.
• Protector solar.
En caso de no tener algo de la lista de vestimenta personal o equipo, Mauna Expeditions les podrá facilitar con el alquiler o venta de dichos accesorios.

PAGO Y CANCELACIÓN DEL PROGRAMA
Para reservar el tour, Mauna Expeditions requiere un abono del 25% del costo del programa. El pago completo debe estar realizado hasta máximo dos semanas antes de la fecha de inicio del tour. No enviamos voucher ni mensajes de confirmación hasta que el pago completo del programa este realizado. Nuestro equipo se reserva el derecho a cancelar el tour si el pago completo no esta efectivizado hasta la fecha de inicio del programa.
El equipo de Mauna Expeditions ha puesto mucho esfuerzo en organizar su programa. Por lo tanto, cualquier cancelación debe ser realizada con mínimo 21 días de anticipación. Pasados los 21 días, Mauna Expeditions podrá hacer un reembolso del 50% dependiendo la causa de cancelación. Cualquier cancelación avisada con menos de 21 días a la fecha de inicio del programa, se cobrará una penalidad del 100% del valor del programa.

The ‘Laguna Amarilla’ is a hidden treasure that Ecuador has in the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes. El Altar is an extinct volcano located within the Sangay National Park about 20km from the city of Riobamba in the heart of Ecuador. This trek is something that must be done at least once in your life. It is one of the most magical places that Ecuador has, offering us landscapes from another world and an incomparable hiking experience. This volcano had a rupture of its crater to the west, leaving its caldera open, forming this incredible and well-known lagoon that is one of the most outstanding attractions in the Altar volcano and in Ecuador in general. The ‘Laguna Amarilla’ is located at 4200m/13779ft and is surrounded by more than 9 peaks that reach up to 5300m/17388ft in height, providing us with unique landscapes, perfect for photography lovers. In addition, if we are lucky, we will be able to find a different variety of fauna, such as: the Puma, White-tailed Deer, Páramo Wolf and a great variety of birds, among them the majestic Andean Condor. This trek is normally done in two days and every four passengers will have an ASEGUIM/UIAGM certified guide. If you travel alone, the trek will be carried out only by the certified guide with the passenger. Come to live this incredible experience touring the Andes of Ecuador with us.
DAY 1: Ascent to the Releche refuge
Altitude: 3800m/12467ft
We will pick you up from your hotel or place of preference at 05h00 where we will have a trip of approximately 4 hours until we reach Hacienda Releche where our breakfast will be waiting for us. Once we are ready, we will give some brief safety instructions and we will begin our hike of approximately 6 hours to the Releche refuge. On the way, we will have different stops to eat and hydrate. Once at the refuge, which is located in the Collanes Valley, we will have time to relax, explore the magnificent place and enjoy the amazing landscapes that surround us. We can take advantage of this time to take pictures of the volcano and enjoy the sunset. At the refuge we will have our dinner around 18h00 and then we will prepare our things for the next day. We will sleep around 20h00 to rest well.
DAY 2: Altar’s ‘Laguna Amarilla’ Trek
Altitude: 4200m/13779ft
We will get up at 04h00 to finish getting dressed, drink some tea and start our trek to the Laguna Amarilla, which lasts approximately 2 hours. Once at the Laguna Amarilla, we will have enough time to take pictures, eat something, hydrate ourselves and enjoy the landscape around us. People who wish can get into the lagoon and swim a bit, taking into account that the water is very cold. After enjoying a good time in the lagoon, we will descend again towards the refuge where we will have our breakfast and we will get everything ready to descend again to the lower part of the Releche refuge where our transport will be waiting for us to return to the city of Quito. The return journey takes 4 hours, so we will make a stop for lunch before leaving you again at the starting point at your hotel or place of preference.

Three layers of clothing for the legs and torso:
• Base layer: Thermal clothing for body and pants (usually made of synthetic material).
• Second layer: Warm jacket and pants, preferably water repellent (goose down, fleece or polar type).
• Third layer: Waterproof jacket and pants (in case of rain).
• An extra thermal or jacket (in case of extreme cold).
• Backpack between 25L and 35L.
• Gloves.
• Factor 4 sunglasses (with UV protection) and sunscreen.
• Buff.

Any cancellation notified less than 21 days from the start date of the program will be charged a penalty of 100% of the value of the program.

The Yellow Lagoon is a hidden treasure that Ecuador has in its perfect Andes mountain range. El Altar is an extinct volcano located within the Sangay National Park in the eastern cordillera of Ecuador, about 20km from the city of Riobamba. This trek must be done at least once in your life.
It is one of the most magical places that Ecuador has, offering us views and an experience from another
world. This volcano is mainly visited for its numerous lagoons and the beauty of its páramos. Laguna Amarilla is located in the Sangay National Park, thus being one of the most outstanding attractions in the Altar volcano thanks to the fact that it is surrounded by the volcano’s crater next to snow peaks next to its lagoon in a centered way, resulting in a spectacular view of the place. The Yellow Lagoon is special in every way, since some people have felt directly connected to this unique landscape, and others enjoy this great jewel that Ecuador offers us, having unique and incomparable experiences. In addition, you can count, among its attractions, with different animal species such as: the Puma concolor, White-tailed Deer, Chucuri, Páramo Wolf; or different types of birds, among them the condor, Rainbow Spike, Curiquingues, etc; along with a great variety of vegetation led by mosses, lichens and native plants of the place.
DAY 1 and 2: Trek to the Altar – Laguna Amarilla

DAY 1
We will pick you up from your hotel or place of stay at 5:00 am in which we will have an approximate trip of 4H30 until we reach the Releche Hacienda where our breakfast will be waiting for us. Once we have breakfast here we will give some brief instructions and we will start the first section of the walk that estimates 6H00 of walking, in the pampita of this walk we will have a rest space to eat. Next, we will continue our walk until we reach the refuge. Once at the refuge, we will have time to relax and have dinner. At the refuge we will sleep in our bunk beds and get ready for the next day.
DAY 2
At 5:30 a.m. we will wake up and get ready to go on the walk to the Laguna Amarilla that lasts approximately 2 hours. Once we are in the Laguna Amarilla, we will have enough time to rest, eat and of course the photos in the lagoon; as an option for the brave, is that they can enter the lagoon to take a dip. The water is extremely cold but does not contain sulfur or other substances that are harmful to health. Once here we will proceed to the descent towards the refuge, here we will have breakfast and get everything ready to descend again in our final section towards the Releche Retorno hacienda, and then to their places of stay.
