The Cayambe Coca National Park is one of the most emblematic parks in all of Ecuador. Within it, is the Cayambe volcano, the third highest mountain in the country, formed by several domes that reach a maximum height of 5790m. It is one of the largest volcanic complexes in the country, being an eastern area that presents high slopes and rugged topography. In addition, the Cayambe National Park has sources of the Coca River, being known as ‘the national water park’. This is a perfect place to enjoy with family or friends as it offers endless activities to do around the place. We can visit the famous beautiful glacier or walk to the green lagoon, where we can have a better view of the Cayambe volcano, being a perfect place for photography lovers. This tour is normally done in one day and every four passengers will have an certified local guide. If traveling alone, the tour will be carried out only by the certified guide with the passenger. DAY 1: Cayambe Coca National Park Full Day Tour
We will pick you up from your hotel or place of preference at 06h00 and we will start our 2-hour trip to the Cayambe Coca National Park, once here we will register and enter. Within the Cayambe Coca National Park we will establish certain stops to take photographs. Once we arrive at the Ruales Oleas Berge refuge in our transport, we will get ready and head to the ‘Glaciar Hermoso, which is a protected glacier known as the ‘home of the largest and most beautiful glaciers in Ecuador’. Here we will have enough time to enjoy the landscape. Then, we will return and start our 1-hour walk to the Green Lagoon (Laguna Verde), an incredible place to appreciate the greatness of Cayambe and a perfect place to take pictures. Once we finish our time here, we will return to the refuge where our private transport will be waiting for us to return to the city of Quito. The return trip takes approximately 2 hours, so we will stop for lunch before leaving you again at the starting point at your hotel or place of preference.
CLOTHING REQUIRED (NOT INCLUDED):
Three layers of clothing for the legs and torso:
• Base layer: Thermal clothing for body and pants (usually made of synthetic material).
• Second layer: Warm jacket and pants, preferably water repellent (goose down, fleece or polar type).
• Third layer: Waterproof jacket and pants (in case of rain).
• An extra thermal or jacket (in case of extreme cold).
• Backpack between 25L and 35L.
• Gloves.
• Factor 4 sunglasses (with UV protection).
• Buff.
• Thick socks.
• Sunscreen.
In case you do not have something from the list of personal clothing, Mauna Expeditions can provide you with the rental or sale of said accessories.

PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION OF THE PROGRAM
To book the tour, Mauna Expeditions requires a payment of 25% of the cost of the program. Full payment must be made up to a maximum of two weeks before the start date of the tour. We do not send vouchers or confirmation messages until full payment for the program is made. Our team reserves the right to cancel the tour if the full payment is not made until the start date of the program.
The Mauna Expeditions team has put a lot of effort into organizing your program. Therefore, any cancellation must be made at least 21 days in advance. After 21 days, Mauna Expeditions may make a 50% refund depending on the cause of cancellation. Any cancellation notified less than 21 days from the start date of the program will be charged a penalty of 100% of the value of the program.
COSTS

RECOMENDATIONS
Mountaineering is a high-risk sport, where we are exposed to conditions on extreme occasions. We do not recommend doing this activity for people with asthma or some kind of heart condition. The level of difficulty of this program is demanding and there is nothing that interests us more than your safety and that you enjoy our program without any external problem.

Within the Cayambe Coca National Park is the Cayambe volcano, formed by several domes with its maximum height of 5790 meters above sea level. Above 4,800 meters above sea level, the Cayambe volcano is covered by an important ice cap that covers an approximate area of 22 km2 and that reaches a thickness of around 30 to 50 m in the area of the summit. It is one of the largest volcanic complexes in the country, being an eastern area that presents high slopes and rugged topography. In addition, the Cayambe National Park has sources of the Coca River, being known “for the national water park”. There is water everywhere, in the rivers that form falls and cascades, in the vegetation and leaf litter on the ground, in the environment due to the constant mist and rain, in the wetlands and lagoons in the upper part, in the soil and the páramo pads.
DAY 1: Cayambe- Family Outing
We will pick you up from the hotel of your choice at 8:00 a.m. and we will start our adventure towards the Cayambe Coca National Park, once here we will register and enter. Inside the Cayambe Coca National Park we will establish a certain stop for photography, if the weather allows us we will have a spectacular view; Then we will go to the Hermoso Glacier, which is a protected glacier known for being the “home of the largest and most beautiful glaciers in Ecuador”. Here we will have enough time for the photographs, then we will go to the Ruales Oleas Berge Refuge which lasts approximately 1H00 at a slow pace; Once inside the refuge, we will proceed to enjoy our lunch box and hydration, here we will enjoy the cozy refuge, and we will prepare to go to the Green Lagoon. On the walk to the Lagoon you will take your route around 35 at a moderate pace and having the respective stops for photography; once in the Green Lagoon we will be able to see the variety of flora and fauna that this lagoon has, and it is a perfect space to share with the family, as is its bluish-green color. After spending a moment and visiting this Lagoon, we will return to the refuge where we can have a pleasant lunch and finally return to our place of stay after an incredible day of adventure.

The necessary equipment that we recommend that you wear so that you have a totally pleasant experience is:
