The Quilotoa of volcanic origin, product of the collapse of the volcano that occurred approximately 800 years ago, is considered one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world. The Quilotoa Lagoon has a 250-m-deep caldera whose minerals give a bluish and greenish color when hit by sunlight. The Quilotoa Lagoon is a perfect family outing for everyone in the family to enjoy a spectacular view where you can enjoy the community and local gastronomy. In addition, you will be able to enjoy some photographs together with the most emblematic animal of the place, which are the alpacas.
We will pick you up from the hotel of your choice at 07:00 a.m. where we will have a trip of approximately 3 hours until we reach the famous Quilotoa lagoon. Within the journey to start this exciting adventure, we will go to a visit to the most existing folkloric markets called the Saquisilí Market or the Zumbahua Market. The importance of visiting these markets is due to the authenticity that the community provides, since we will find a variety of Andean fruits, colorful roses, among others. Together, we will visit the community of Tigua which highlights the number of Andean legends that they have together with great mountainous landscapes; Later, we will make a short stop in the Toachi canyon, and finally we will be at the Quilotoa Lagoon where we can enjoy this spectacular lagoon, enjoy photography and take advantage of the local gastronomy tasting in a restaurant in the area. Once we finish our last stop, which is in the Quilotoa Lagoon, they will return to their place of stay where they can rest after a long day.
What to wear?
The necessary equipment that we recommend that you carry so that you have a totally pleasant experience is:
Two layers of clothing for the legs and torso:
• Comfortable and warm jacket and pants.
• Backpack.
• Thin gloves. (avoid wool)
• Buff.
• Warm socks.
• An extra sweater (to be carried in the backpack in case of extreme cold).
• Sunscreen.
• Thermal hat.
• Sports shoes or comfortable shoes.
In case you do not have some of the clothing and extra equipment, we as Mauna Expeditions will guide you where you can rent or buy these accessories.

PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION OF THE PROGRAM
To book the tour, Mauna Expeditions requires a payment of 25% of the cost of the program. Full payment must be made up to a maximum of two weeks before the start date of the tour. We do not send vouchers or confirmation messages until full payment for the program is made. Our team reserves the right to cancel the tour if the full payment is not made until the start date of the program.
The Mauna Expeditions team has put a lot of effort into organizing your program. Therefore, any cancellation must be made at least 21 days in advance. After 21 days, Mauna Expeditions may make a 50% refund depending on the cause of cancellation. Any cancellation notified less than 21 days from the start date of the program will be charged a penalty of 100% of the value of the program.
COSTS

RECOMMENDATIONS
Mountaineering is a high-risk sport, where we are exposed to conditions on extreme occasions. We do not recommend doing this activity for people with asthma or some kind of heart problem. The level of difficulty of the program is demanding and there is nothing that interests us more than your safety and that you enjoy our program without any external problem.

The Quilotoa is a beautiful active volcano of the Ecuadorian Andes; An incredible lagoon with a diameter of 3km has developed inside its caldera. This is the product of the collapse of the volcano, which occurred about 800 years ago. In this beautiful 1-day tour we will appreciate the best landscapes that Ecuador offers, in addition to having the Quilotoa lagoon accompanying us from different angles all the time. Quilotoa has several popular hiking trails throughout Ecuador, perfect for photography lovers. This tour is normally done in one day and every four passengers will have an ASEGUIM/UIAGM certified guide. If traveling alone, the tour will be carried out only by the certified guide with the passenger. DAY 1: Quilotoa 1 Day Tour
We will pick you up from your hotel or place of preference at 06:00 a.m. where we will have a trip of approximately 3 hours until we reach the Quilotoa Volcano located within the Los Illinizas Ecological Reserve. We will do the registration, we will give a brief safety instructions before starting our walk. We will begin our journey of approximately 5 hours until we go down to the edge of the lagoon where we can enjoy the incredible landscapes that surround us and we will see the neighboring giant volcanoes such as Ilinizas, Cotopaxi, Chimborazo and many more. At the end of the tour we will return to our transport that will be waiting for us to return to the city of Quito. The return journey takes 3 hours, so we will make a stop for lunch before leaving you again at the starting point at your hotel or place of preference.
CLOTHING REQUIRED (NOT INCLUDED):
Three layers of clothing for the legs and torso:
• Base layer: Thermal clothing for body and pants (usually made of synthetic material).
• Second layer: Warm jacket and pants, preferably water repellent (goose down, fleece or polar type).
• Third layer: Waterproof jacket and pants (in case of rain).
• An extra thermal or jacket (in case of extreme cold).
• Backpack between 25L and 35L.
• Gloves.
• Factor 4 sunglasses (with UV protection).
