Duration: 1 day
Date: All year
The Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve is a space of peace, characterized by its moisture-laden clouds that come from the Pacific coast. Likewise, it is the only reserve protected under the category of ‘Geobotanical Reserve’. In addition, this reserve is known for its great variety of flora and fauna that lives on the heights of the hill. Hiking in the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve is known for its large inactive caldera of 4 km in diameter that allows you to have trails through diverse ecosystems and landscapes of our beautiful Andes. These trails have already been occupied for approximately 1000 years by the inhabitants of this region. The Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve is ideal for feeling the energy that comes from within the volcano in each piece of land, rock and water that surrounds it. This trek is normally done in one day and every four passengers will have an ASEGUIM/UIAGM certified guide. If you travel alone, the trek will be carried out only by the certified guide with the passenger. Come to live this incredible experience touring the Andes of Ecuador and join us on this beautiful adventure.
DAY 1: Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve Trek
We will pick you up from your hotel or place of preference at 07h00 where we will have a trip of approximately 1 hour and a half until we reach the Reserve. We will register the entrance and give some brief security instructions before starting our trek. The Pululahua volcano trek is a short route that is intended to go along a path where you will find a great variety of flora and fauna in its ravines; from the viewpoint towards the lower part of the Pululahua volcano at 2450m that will take us approximately 30 minutes of walking. We will take the ‘Sendero del Chivo’ which is characterized by being a pre-montane forest, in which part of the route there is an incline ascent until we reach the top of this mountain, where we can enjoy the incredible landscapes that surround us and the giant neighboring volcanoes like Pichincha, Cayambe, Mojanda and many more. At the end of our trek we will return to our transport that will be waiting for us to return to the city of Quito. The return journey takes 1 hour and a half, so we will make a stop for lunch before leaving you again at the starting point at your hotel or place of preference.
