El ascenso a la cima del volcán Tungurahua es una de las expediciones más populares en Ecuador. Es la novena montaña más alta del Ecuador con 5023m (16479ft). Se encuentra ubicada a 16km/10mi al suroeste de Baños de Agua Santa. Esta montaña ofrece un ascenso sin igual y algo empinado. Para ascender a esta montaña no se necesita experiencia técnica previa, pero si es importante estar en buena condición física y tener aclimatación en altura (sobre los 4000mm).
La cumbre del Tungurahua ofrece vistas increíbles, su gigante cráter y fumarolas harán que te quedes asombrado, al igual que los increíbles amaneceres con vistas al Parque Nacional Llanganates y su principal montaña el Cerro Hermoso. También se pueden avistar los volcanes vecinos tales como el Chimborazo, Carihuairazo, Cotopaxi, Altar y muchas más. El ascenso es muy popular entre los mochileros, montañistas experimentados y personas aventureras que quiera vivir esta experiencia sin igual.
El ascenso por seguridad se lo realiza en la noche y cada dos pasajeros tendrán un guía certificado ASEGUIM/UIAGM. Si se viaja en solitario, el ascenso se realizará solamente el guía certificado con el pasajero. DÍA 1: Ascenso al refugio del Tungurahua

Les recogeremos del hotel de su preferencia a las 09h00 en nuestro transporte privado. Tendremos un viaje de tres horas hasta llegar a Baños donde tendremos un almuerzo (incluido). Luego de otros 45 minutos llegaremos a la Reserva Nacional donde haremos el registro de ingreso. Después de dos horas de ascenso con paisajes asombrosos, llegaremos al refugio del Tungurahua donde nos acomodaremos en nuestros lugares y procederemos a disfrutar del paisaje y dar unas breves instrucciones de seguridad justo antes de cenar. Tendremos una deliciosa cena alrededor de las 17h30 y luego prepararemos nuestras cosas para el ascenso. Dormiremos a las 19h00 aproximadamente.
DÍA 2: Ascenso al volcán Tungurahua
Altura: 5704m/18713ft
Nos levantaremos a la 01h00 para terminar de vestirnos, tomar algo de té y empezar el ascenso hacia la cumbre. Nuestro ascenso inicia a las 02h00 donde nos espera una caminata de aproximadamente 4 horas y media hasta la cumbre. Alrededor de las 06h30 justo con el amanecer, estaremos llegando a la cima de este majestuoso volcán activo donde podremos apreciar su gran cráter y los volcanes vecinos tales como el Altar, Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, Carihuairazo y muchos más. Después de 30 minutos en la cumbre aproximadamente, dependiendo las condiciones climáticas, empezaremos el descenso que nos tomará aproximadamente 2 horas y media. Llegaremos al refugio nuevamente donde tendremos un delicioso desayuno y luego alistaremos nuestras cosas para iniciar nuestro descenso hacia el ingreso de la Reserva donde nos estará esperando nuestro transporte privado para el retorno a la ciudad de Quito donde les dejaremos finalmente en su hotel de preferencia.
EQUIPO DE MONTAÑA (INCLUIDO):
- Casco.
- Arnés.
- Equipo compartido (cuerda, mosquetones, cordinos, equipo de ascenso y descenso).
VESTIMENTA PERSONAL (NO INCLUIDO):
Tres capas de vestimenta para las piernas y el torso:
• Primera capa: Buzo y pantalón dryfit (tipo licra, secado rápido).
• Segunda capa: Chaqueta y pantalón abrigado preferiblemente repelente al agua (Tipo fleece o polar).
• Tercera capa: Chaqueta y pantalón impermeable.
• Un buzo o chompa extra (en caso de extremo frio).
• Mochila entre 25L y 35L.
• Guantes preferiblemente gruesos.
• Gafas factor 4 (con protección UV).
• Buff o gorro térmico.
• Medias gruesas.
• Protector solar.

The Mauna Expeditions team has put a lot of effort into organizing your program. Therefore, any cancellation must be made at least 21 days in advance. After 21 days, Mauna Expeditions may make a 50% refund depending on the cause of cancellation. Any cancellation notified less than 21 days from the start date of the program will be charged a penalty of 100% of the value of the program.

Climbing Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador is one of the most rewarding experiences in Ecuadorian mountaineering. It is the ninth highest mountain in Ecuador with 5021m (16473ft). It is located 16km/10mi southwest of Baños de Agua Santa. Climbing Tungurahua volcano offers an unparalleled and somewhat steep ascent. We will have 2000m positive climb in just two days so be prepared for an amazing adventure. For climbing Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador you do not need previous technical experience, but it is important to be in good physical condition and have acclimatization at altitude (over 4000mm).

DAY 1: Hike to the Tungurahua’s refuge
Altitude: 3800m/12467ft
We will pick you up from your hotel or place of your preference at 09h00 in our private transport. We will have a three hour trip until we reach Baños where we will have lunch. After another 45 minutes we will arrive at the entrance of the park where we will register. Here, we will start our climb and after two hours of ascent with amazing landscapes, we will arrive at the Tungurahua refuge where we will settle in our places and proceed to enjoy the landscape and give some brief safety instructions just before dinner. We will have a delicious dinner around 17h30 and then we will prepare our things for climbing Tungurahua volcano. We will sleep at approximately 19h00.
DAY 2: Climbing Tungurahua Volcano in Ecuador
Altitude: 5021m/16473ft
This is our big day! We are climbing Tungurahua volcano. We will get up at 01h00 to finish getting dressed, have some tea and begin the ascent to the summit. Our climb begins at 02h00 where a walk of approximately 4 and a half hours awaits us to the summit. Around 06h30, just with sunrise, we will be reaching the top of this majestic active volcano where we will be able to appreciate its large crater and neighboring volcanoes such as Altar, Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, Carihuairazo and many more. After approximately 30 minutes at the summit, depending on the weather conditions, we will begin the descent that will take us approximately 2 and a half hours. We will arrive at the refuge again where we will have a delicious breakfast and then we will get our things to begin our descent towards the entrance of the reserve where our private transport will be waiting for us to return to the city of Quito where we will finally leave you at your hotel or place of preference.

Three layers of clothing for the legs and torso:

• Third layer: Waterproof jacket and pants.
